Medical X-ray Film
Medical X-ray film is a special film used to record and display X-ray images, which can convert the internal structure and abnormal conditions of the human body into visual images through the process of exposure and development. 以下是关于它的介绍:
  • Composition

    • Base layer: It is usually made of cellulose triacetate or polyester, which provides support for the film and prevents the emulsion layer from being fragile.

    • Adhesive layer: A thin layer containing gelatin and solvents is used to firmly bond the emulsion layer and the base layer.

    • Emulsion layer: It is the main part of the film, composed of silver halide and gelatin. Silver halide crystals, mainly silver bromide (accounting for about 95%), are sensitive to X-rays and undergo chemical changes when exposed to form a latent image.

    • Protective layer: It is a gelatin layer that protects the emulsion layer from scratches and contamination.

  • Types

    • Screen type films: They are used in combination with intensifying screens and are divided into conventional and orthochromatic (green-sensitive) types. They have the characteristics of high sensitivity and fast imaging.

    • Direct exposure type films: They are mainly used for dental exposures and do not require an intensifying screen.

  • Characteristics

    • High resolution: It can clearly show the internal details of the human body, which is helpful for doctors to make accurate diagnoses.

    • High X-ray sensitivity: It can reduce the radiation dose of X-rays as much as possible to avoid harm to the human body.

    • Easy to operate and process: It can be processed by high-temperature rapid development machines or at room temperature by hand.

  • Principles:It uses the penetrability of X-rays and gamma rays to substances to photograph the internal structure of objects. When X-rays pass through the human body, different tissues absorb different amounts of X-rays, so the degree of exposure of the silver halide in the emulsion layer of the film is different. After development and fixing, a visible image is formed, showing the internal structure of the human body.

  • Usage method

    • Radiography: It needs to be used in combination with an intensifying screen. Through a specific medical X-ray examination of the human body, the diseased part will have a different image taken on the film.

    • Washing: It can be washed by a high-temperature rapid development machine or by hand at room temperature. The hospital mainly uses machine washing. The 90-second high-temperature rapid processing program: the development temperature is 30-35°C, and the time is 23-30 seconds.

  • Storage conditions:It should be stored in a dark, cool, and dry place, at a temperature not higher than 20°C, and the humidity is maintained at 40%-60%. The film should be kept vertical to avoid pressure and damage.
